Mission and Values

The Government Relations Association (GRA) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit member organization founded in Washington, DC in 2017. We are a fast-growing association representing the family of government relations professionals writ large including lobbyists, fundraisers, public policy experts, public affairs spokespersons, advocacy professionals, and grassroots practitioners.

MISSION

To protect the First Amendment to the Constitution that seeks to ensure the intent of James Madison is preserved and allows the right of all parties to petition their government for a ‘redress of grievances’.

VALUES

  • GRA will educate the public, promote value in society, support professional development, and encourage the highest ethical standards of today’s practicing government relations professionals at all levels of government around the world.
  • GRA will allow governments to more effectively represent the constituents they have been elected to serve by fostering dialogue and promoting transparency through the work of interacting with government relations practitioners who help stakeholders make their voices heard.
  • GRA recognizes that vibrant communities and a thriving free society in America require working together to accomplish the collective good. Government relations professionals commit to this effort by representing and amplifying the interests of the organizations and industries they represent and use their voice to inform the public debate with elected officials and policymakers.
  • GRA will help in the advancement, improvement, function, and effectiveness of those in these professions.
